Material Guide and Care Tips

Our Spring Summer 2025 sandal collection features intricate string detailing, offering a refined yet artisanal touch to your footwear. To maintain their beauty, proper cleaning and care are essential.

Follow this step-by-step guide to keep your sandals in pristine condition while protecting the delicate leather accents.

Cleaning String Material with Care

The woven string detailing on Elma, Madison, Perla and Amalia sandals adds texture and elegance. However, it requires special attention when cleaning to prevent damage to adjacent leather sections.

What You’ll Need:

  • Mild detergent or dish soap (avoid harsh chemicals)
  • Warm water
  • Soft-bristled brush (suede brush or old toothbrush)
  • Microfiber cloth or soft sponge
  • Bowl of clean water

STEP ONE: Preparation to Protect the Leather. Before cleaning, cover nearby leather areas with a dry microfiber cloth to prevent water exposure.

STEP TWO: Dry Brushing to Remove Loose Dirt. Use a soft-bristled brush or an old toothbrush to gently remove dust and dirt from the string fabric. Avoid direct contact with the leather sections to prevent scratches.

STEP THREE: Cleaning the String Material. In a bowl, combine a few drops of mild detergent with warm water. Dip only the tip of the brush or sponge into the solution and do not over-saturate to prevent water from seeping into the leather. Work in circular motions to lift dirt without soaking the string material and make sure to clean small sections at a time for precision.

STEP FOUR: Removing Soap Residue & Excess Moisture. Use a clean, damp microfiber cloth to wipe away any soap.

STEP FIVE: Drying Properly. Allow the sandals to air dry in a well-ventilated area. Avoid direct sunlight or artificial heat sources, as they may damage both fabric and leather. Stuff the shoes with paper towels to help retain their shape and absorb excess moisture.

Caring for Leather Accents

While cleaning the string material, it’s crucial to protect the leather details.

If the leather gets wet: Immediately pat dry with a microfiber cloth and apply a leather conditioner if needed to maintain softness and prevent cracking.

Keeping your sandals fresh.

To extend the life of your sandals, follow these additional tips:

  • Store Properly: Keep them in a dust bag or shoe box to prevent exposure to dust and moisture.

  • Rotate Wear: Avoid wearing them on consecutive days to allow materials to rest.

  • Spot Clean Regularly: Address stains promptly to prevent them from setting in.

With the right care, your sandals will stay looking impeccable for seasons to come.
